Board Member Bios
Ian Barlow, President: Ian and his wife, Kirsten, moved to the Sierra Oaks neighborhood (Morley Way) approximately six years ago. Their two sons, Myles and Bennett, attend school at Sierra Oaks K-8 and Ian works as an attorney at an office located in the Sierra Oaks community. He is pleased to have the opportunity to serve on SONA's Board and to help contribute to the neighborhood, including by facilitating community services, events, and connections among our schools, families, and neighbors.
Todd Aquilina, Treasurer: Todd has lived in Sierra Oaks since 2011 with his wife Jennifer and two sons Eli and Noah. He’s served on the SONA board since 2018 and is responsible for the over-site of the organization's finances. Todd loves the strong sense of community in Sierra Oaks. From school to sports to strong connections with neighbors, Todd and his family are proud to be part of such a great neighborhood.
Erin Weeden, Secretary: Erin, a Sacramento native, settled in the Sierra Oaks neighborhood a decade ago with her husband, Matt, and their three wonderful children—Sutter, Mark, and Annie. A devoted community member, Erin actively contributes to the local school PTA and spearheads neighborhood fun initiatives, bringing enthusiasm and a strong sense of community to our Sierra Oaks family. Say hi next time you see her on a walk or entertaining on her front patio.
Heather Ward, Communications: Heather has lived in Sierra Oaks since 2011 with her husband Steve, and two children, Taylor and Dylan. She can often be spotted along the parkway with the family's two dogs or chatting with neighbors when walking the kids home from school. As a marketing professional, she looks forward to helping SONA stay in touch with its members.
Lilly Kimmelshue, Membership: Lilly and her husband, Joel, made a “pandemic purchase” in 2020 and moved to the Sierra Oaks neighborhood after 15 years in Land Park. They have two adult children, Natalia and Jack, who reside out of state. Lilly looks forward to building on SONA's strong sense of community, connection, vibrancy, and safety for all our neighbors. An avid walker, Lilly can be spotted walking our neighborhood and enjoying the diversity of our homes and landscapes. She looks forward to meeting more residents and serving as a member of SONA.
Jacqueline Gage, Membership: Jacqueline grew up in the Sierra Oaks neighborhood and was just recently able to return to her roots when she and her husband Chad bought a house in the neighborhood last summer. By day, she is a realtor serving the various neighborhoods of Sacramento and educating people through her YouTube channel, Living in Sacramento. Jacqueline is excited to help build the membership of SONA while getting to know more people in the community. Her favorite things about Sierra Oaks include the proximity to the river and the California Ranch, and the Mid-Century style architecture.
Juanell Hefner, Public Safety & Patrols: Juanell has lived in Sierra Oaks for several years. As a native of Sacramento, she has been enjoying the American River Parkway for many years and continues to do so with her mini poodle Gracie. Gracie is a champion kayaker! Juanell’s favorite things about the neighborhood are the people in the community and the easy access to many restaurants, and stores.
Linda Babcock, Member-at-Large: Linda and her family have lived in Sierra Oaks since 2000 and have been actively involved with SONA since 2006. Over the years, she has served in a variety of volunteer roles and has loved getting to know the community and building lasting friendships. One of her favorite parts of living in Sierra Oaks is enjoying time with her family along the beautiful American River Parkway.
Geoff Black, Member-at-Large: Geoff and his wife Jodi have enjoyed Sierra Oaks for 15 years with their twin daughters. Geoff served as the SONA President for 6 years, and he remains a sounding board and advocate for the group. By day, Geoff is a mortgage lender for more than 20 years, serving the greater Sacramento area. His favorite things about Sierra Oaks are the friendly people, walkability, access to the American River Bike Trail, and the holiday celebrations from the 4th of July to Halloween and beyond.
Gianna Massei-Escovedo, Member-at-Large: Gianna and her husband, Josh, moved to Sierra Oaks from East Sac in October 2023. They share their home with two huskies and recently welcomed their first child. Gianna is excited to get involved with SONA and looks forward to connecting with other families in the community.
Tony & Kathryn Clark, Members-at-Large: Tony and Kathryn have called Sierra Oaks home since the summer of 2021, when they relocated from East Sacramento. Tony is an active alumnus of Christian Brothers High School and a graduate of Sacramento State. With a strong appreciation for community, he is eager to support SONA in any way he can. Outside of work, Tony enjoys spending time with his family as well as escaping to Tahoe whenever possible.
Kathryn shares Tony’s commitment to community and connection. She enjoys walking the Sierra Oaks neighborhood and the close the proximity to the American River Parkway. Kathryn looks forward to contributing to SONA and strengthening the sense of community that makes Sierra Oaks such a special place to live.
